Swadlincote 308 help the Dream Scheme dig in

Swadlincote and District Round Table helped South Derbyshire District Council’s Dream Scheme with a donation towards tools and plants, and some elbow grease to renovate a communal area in one of their sheltered housing complexes.

South Derbyshire District Council’s Dream Scheme gives youngsters aged between 8 and 15 years of age ‘Points’ for performing work in the community which can then be exchanged towards trips and activities and also helps them to feel involved with the community as a whole.

During the day flowerbeds were cleared and benches repainted, a skip was filled with a huge amount of old plant material, rubbish and soil before the Dream Schemers used many bags of  compost to rejuvenate the ground before replanting with trees, plant and flowers – ably assisted by Mark Dissington and Dan Towns.
