Beeston & District 573 Continue to support the Silver Surfers computer support group

Wednesday 17th May saw the first anniversary of the Silver Surfers computer group. Silver Surfers was set up last year with the aim to help elderly people get a better understanding of computers, and the internet.

As Beeston supported their start up, by donating 2 laptops (both of which boot up with the Beeston Round Table logo!), we were invited to go along and see what they get up to and enjoy the celebration.

Normally 20-25 people attend on a weekly basis but this Thursday saw over 70 people taking advantage of the free to use, voluntary service.

Chris Hughes went along for the afternoon and surprised the group by presenting them with a gift of a wireless colour printer which they can all use and was gratefully received.

Pictured are Chris Hughes (AKA Big AL – we used his proper name so not to scare anyone!) and Sandra Read the main coordinator.

On the day they also held a photograph competition, which Chris had the honour of judging, where they had to take a digital photo, unload it to a computer and email it to one of the organisers so it could be judged.

Another example of Beeston & District 573 Round Table taking the time and consideration to help a worth while cause which helps many people.

Well done Big Al.
