Loughborough Round Table Coast to Coast Bike Ride

On the weekend of the 20th to 23rd May 2010, 25 intrepid cyclists made up of members of Loughborough Round Table, Ex Round Table and guests undertook the challenge of conquering the Coast to Coast bike ride which runs from Whitehaven, through the Lake District, over the hills of the Pennines and finishes in Tynemouth, 143 miles later.

The hills were extremely challenging but the downhills were awesome. After 3 days in the saddle there was no sitting around and the weekend ended with a celebratory meal and beers in Newcastle on the Saturday night. This was followed by a well stocked but low attended vaseline applying session for those with extreme chaffing.

Kevin Sutcliffe, Loughborough’s Chairman 2010/11 thanked fellow tabler, Jonathon May, for organising the whole trip and to all the cyclists and support crew for making the weekend so enjoyable. At the last count the event had raised over £10,000 for Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough and the Glenfield Heart Foundation in Leicester and the money continues to come in.
