Ilkeston and District Boot Camp

Ilkeston & District 285’s Immediate Past Chairman Rob Severn writes:

On the 22nd May we are having a “Boot Camp” day at the Bennerley Fields School in Cotmanhay Ilkeston, the day is primarily designed to enable all of the volunteers to help us build a large wooden bridge that is going to be a key feature of a Sensory Garden that Broomfield College (Derby) are designing and making, with the aid of Round Table volunteers and local community groups such as the scouts and Army/Air Cadets we are having a full day event where aswell as the bridge being worked on, there are other activities going off!

We have kick boxing, a climbing wall, Adventure training and ground work skills, a chinese Lion Dance and outdoor cinema screening to name a just a few! We are also in talks with a local Radio Station to get them to broadcast live on the day from the Boot Camp itself.

Our project co-ordinator Chris Jackson is looking to try and get as many Round Table volunteers from area to help on the day, The Ilkeston lads will be sorting out the marshalling and logistics on the day but we need bodies to build the bridge and take part in the activities, the day is of course f.o.c as Ilkeston Round Table, Bennerley School and Broomfield College will be supporting it, there will be food & drinks available in the school at very little cost and if the weather is kind it is looking like a good fun day.

See below for PDF Files of a promotional poster and booking form that we have produced and also have a You Tube link to a promotional video that we have made, with quite a few dodgy Ilkeston lads acting in it! If you require any further information about the day itself to help promote it for us you can contact Chris Jackson who will be more than happy to fill you in on all of the details.

I hope you can help, we are also actively visiting area events and meetings to also push it ourselves but realise the medium of the Area website is as good a tool as any to push the project. Thanks in anticipation for your help.
