Swadlincote in the news

Swadlincote Round Table have been in the news recently to announce their first ever Cheap Car Challenge in aid of sufferers of rare genetic disease familial adenomateous polposis (FAP).

The challengers will travel from Swadlincote to Edinburgh, to London and Cardiff and then back to Swadlincote in a vehicle which must cost less than £200. The challenge will take place over three days from July 17 to July 19 and the first to arrive back wins the much sought-after Capital City Cheap Car Charity Challenge trophy (or the Six Cs).

Chairman of Swadlincote Round Table Stacey Ash said: “This idea started off as a desire to raise money for a specific cause. One of our members’ family suffered from this particularly nasty genetic disease and through them we realised that there was not much support in the way of groups to help with issues concerning the disease. By raising money we hope sufferers will be able to attend these support groups.”
